Established in 2023 by an Emiri decree, the university transitioned from a branch of the University of Sharjah to an independent, non-profit academic entity. UKB is licensed by the UAE Ministry of Education and its diverse programs are accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA). The university features specialized colleges in Sport Science, Law, Business Administration, Computing, and Arts & Humanities.
