Global Studies University (GSU) is a specialized postgraduate and research institution in Sharjah, UAE, dedicated to exploring the histories, cultures, and societies of the Global South. Established by Emiri Decree in 2023, GSU is envisioned as a network of interconnected institutes, with The Africa Institute as its cornerstone and the Asia Institute set to follow. The university offers advanced interdisciplinary degrees, including a flagship Master of Arts in Global African Studies and a Doctor of Philosophy in Global Studies. Accredited by the UAE Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA), GSU provides a unique environment for rigorous scholarship through research tracks in Cultural, Visual, and Literary Studies or Historical, Political, and Social Studies.
